DJ J Carbon is an open-format DJ, MC, livestream host and music curator whose sound reflects the energy of Oakland, the soul of Toronto and the Caribbean influence of Trinidad & Tobago. Her sets move fluidly across R&B, hip-hop, dancehall, soca, Afrobeats, house, pop, throwbacks and beyond, with a strong emphasis on crowd reading and adapting the music to the room.
Her live experience includes recurring and event-based performances at venues including Oeste, Bar 355, Fluid 510, AU Lounge and Afro Rave at The New Parish, along with private, community and digital events.
Beyond traditional DJ performances, DJ J Carbon has built a significant livestream presence through Café Carbon, logging more than 700 hours of LIVE programming and building a community around music, conversation and shared culture. DJ J Carbon’s journey began through curiosity, observation and relentless practice. After gaining exposure to DJs while working and hosting in nightlife environments, she began asking questions, studying working DJs, recording mixes and seeking feedback from people already active in the scene. At one point, that learning grew into roughly 30 to 40 hours of practice a week.
That foundation shaped a style built less around rigid genre boundaries and more around understanding people. Her sets can move from 90s and 2000s R&B into hip-hop, dancehall, soca, Afrobeats, house, pop, rock or unexpected throwbacks, depending on where the crowd wants to go.
She later expanded the brand online through Café Carbon, a livestream and community concept built around “good tea, good music, good vibes.” Today DJ J Carbon sits at the intersection of DJ performance, hosting, livestream entertainment and community building, bringing the same focus to every environment: understand the audience, create the right energy, and make the experience feel personal.
